I'm sure everybody had BJ and the Bear flashbacks with that subject title as opposed to the Blue Jays record.
Staying with guys named BJ, nice to see Ryan pick up the save today and he also pitched well yesterday. What Ryan needs to get back into game shape is innings. John Gibbons didn't do that last season with him. Cito will get Ryan's arm into the low 90's pretty soon.
The season has been under way for two weeks and the Jays have their first off day tomorrow, and they're. 10-4. Who would have thunk it? Halladay has been himself. Sorry folks, I need to take a detour for a second. Jamie Campbell who is the worst play by play guy in all of sports, always refers to Halladay as “The Doctor”. This is incorrect. Halladay receives his nickname, from John “Doc” Holliday. Everybody's poker playing, gun slinging hero. I have read a dozen books on Holliday and Wyatt Earp, nobody ever referred to him as “The Doctor”. So for the love of God Campbell, get the nickname right if you're calling 126 friggin ball games this season.
There you go, rant over.
The Jays bats have been impressive this season. That's kudo's to their three batting coaches, Gene Tenace, Cito Gaston and Dwayne Murphy. Well done guys. Jays will need the sticks all year long to compete in the East as you have to assume that the pitching bubble will burst.
Ricky Romero has pitched great, that kid has some gas and great off-speed pitches. The Blue Jays have a lot of lefties on their pitching staff. I remember when Dave Geisel was their only lefty.
2.5 games up on 2nd place after 14 games for the Jays. Hope to say the same after game 162.
It's an off day tomorrow but they're going to be testing the roof at Rogers Centre. That's exciting, maybe bring the family down with a picnic and watch.
