Is Buck Still Bitter?

I was watching the BoSox/Rays last week and Buck Martinez was doing the color commentary for the game.

When the play by play man (he's name escpaes me, but I think it's close to Dan Carcillo) commented that the Blue Jays looked really good.

Buck said that they hadn't played anybody good yet.

Meeeeeeeeow!!!!

On behalf of the Blue Jays, I'd like to apologize for them beating the teams on their schedule. The nerve of that Toronto team winning games against teams that MLB requires hem to play.

Sounds like some sour grapes still on Buck's part and he'll probably be grumpy until JP Ricciardi is gone.

Looking at the AL East. Until the BoSox visited Tampa, they played the fewest road games of any team in the East. So advantage Boston right there.

In defence of the Blue Jays. Starting pitchers, Janssen, Marcum, and McGowan started the year on the DL. Two of their replacements, Rookie Ricky Romero and Jesse Litsch are on the DL as well. Not to mention that closer BJ Ryan has hired Indiana Jones to find his fastball.

Toronto has been winning with a Plan C pitching staff. So they are beating major league clubs with guys who should be in Triple A or lower. If the Jays have to go any further on their depth chart for starting pitching, Dave Stieb and Jim Clancy are on speed dial.

Just wait until Janssen comes back at the end of the month and hopefully McGowan around the all-star break. Pitching will be outstanding then, and it ain't too shabby right now.

And congrats to Scott Richmond who was named rookie of the month in the AL, well earned.
