Jim Balsillie is back with his hockey bag full of cash. Let's hope Bettman does the right thing and lets the man play.
Balsillie has offered $212.5million for the Coyotes who will be in bankruptcy court on Thursday.
The deal will only go through if Balsillie is allowed to move the team to Southern Ontario.
What are the odds of Bettman allowing a team to move to Canada?
After Bettman blew the Nashville deal with Boots instead of Balsillie. You'd think he'd back off and let a guy with a lot of money help the league out.
Let's be honest, in this day and age, who would buy the Coyotes and keep them in Arizona?? No'friggin'body.
The NHL needs 30 healthy franchises. The DNR has been signed off in Scottsdale, plug to be pulled this week.
For the Love of God Bettman, let Balsillie buy the team. He's overpaying for it, which will help out the value of other teams.
If Bettman wants to do the right thing for hockey, he will not oppose the purchase and relocation. Since the players salaries depend on league wide revenue, how long before the NHLPA steps in and says “wait a minute Gary, a team like Phoenix is costing us money, let them move to a viable market”
I know Bettman doesn't want to lose a US TV market. How many times was Phoenix on Versus last season? Five or less games. How much money would CBC and TSN give the NHL to show games of a new Canadian team.
If Bettman blocks this deal, he needs to get the Boot and go hang out with Boots.
In these economic times, Balsillie is a Knight in Shining Armour for the NHL, he's good for hockey, he's good for the economy and who knows maybe Balsillie is even good for global warming.
Do the right thing Gary.
